Maria Kirilenko won her first WTA Tour title in Beijing at this year’s China Open. Although she only won one title in 2005, she reached the round of 16 or higher in ten of her twenty-four tournaments this year. The 2005 season saw her ranking improve from No. 111 to No. 25.
