The top seeds that were in action on day three at the Mondial Australian Women’s Hardcourts at Gold Coast easily advanced in straight sets victories.
No.3 Dinara Safina defeated Iveta Benesova 6-0 6-1, No.4 Flavia Pennetta defeated Aiko Nakamura 6-4 6-4, and No.8 Anabel Medina Garrigues beat Na Li 6-2 6-2.
Martina Hingis continues to show great promise of returning to the top of the ladies tour; she and doubles partner Tatiana Golovin won their first round match against Ting Li and Tiantian Sun 6-1, 6-4
