Hingis defeats No.3 seed Dechy at Toray Pan Pacific

Wildcard Martina Hingis has defeated No.3 seed Nathalie Dechy at this week’s Toray Pan Pacific Open. Hingis battled back from being a set down and closed out the match 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.
This was the first top player that Hingis has defeated in her comeback. Dechy, although currently ranked No.21, was in the top fifteen prior to this week’s rankings. Hingis remains on track for a semfinal match against No.1 seed Maria Sharapova.
Hingis will get her first chance to play against one of the new “youngsters” of the WTA Tour, Maria Kirilenko, in her quarterfinal match.
