Venus and Serena to play Dubai Duty Free Women’s Open

Former world number one players Venus and Serena Williams have agreed to play the Dubai Duty Free Women’s Open tennistournament in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from February 20-25, 2006.

Neither sister has played since crashing out of the Australian Open in the early rounds. Venus Williams, the reigning Wimbledon champion, was scheduled to play this week’s Proximus Diamond Games in Antwerp, but she withdrew citing a sprained ligament in her right arm.

Other players expected to play at next week’s event include Lindsay Davenport,Maria Sharapova, and Justine Henin-Hardenne.

    Defending champion, tower of power Lindsay Davenport plays her first match after aussie open. She is ready to cruise into the open following her withdrawal at the Tokyo PPO, which is one of her favourite tournaments.
    Lindsay is much more charged that ever to win the tourney and I just await to see her hold the trophy on Saturday evening, a repeat of last year.
