Hingis sets up semifinal clash with Sharapova at Indian Wells

Martina Hingis set up a semifinal clash against Maria Sharapova yesterday at the Pacific Life Open. Hingis defeated Russian Dinara Safina in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
Third seed Sharapova cruised past Anna-Lena Groenefeld 6-1, 6-3 to reach the semifinal round at Indian Wells for the second time in her career.
Hingis and Sharapova have already played against each other twice this season, with Hingis winning at the Toray Pan Pacific Open, and Sharapova at the Dubai Duty Free Women’s Open.
