Schnyder upsets Henin-Hardenne in Family Circle Cup semifinal

Justine Henin-Hardenne’s thirteen match winning streak at the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, South Carolina was ended by No. 3 seed Patty Schnyder.

Schnyder, who is currently at No. 9 on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, lost the first set to Henin-Hardenne 2-6, but rallied to win the final two sets 6-3, 6-2.

Henin-Hardenne had never before lost in Charleston, and in fact had never lost to Schnyder in their previous six meetings.

Schnyder will face No. 2 seed Nadia Petrova, who blitzed past Anna-Lena Groenefeld 6-1, 6-3 in the other semifinal today, for the tennis trophy in Sunday’s final.
