The J&S Cup in Warsaw, Poland will be without one of its main stars when the tournament begins on Monday. World No. 4 Justine Henin-Hardenne, who was slated to be the second seed, has withdrawn from the competition, citing a back injury according to her official website.
She still suffers from back problems, and does not want to play with pain. She will take time to recover from her extremely charged two weeks of Fed Cup, and Charleston.
The Belgian champion plans to rest this week, and return on court for practice this weekend, and the following week. Justine should be healthy for Berlin in early May.

I was a bit surprised by Henin-Hardenne’s decision, especially seeing that she was playing some of her best clay court tennis at the Fed Cup. She ruled the clay courts last season, with the titles at Warsaw, Berlin, and the French Open. Her withdrawal from Warsaw could result in her being knocked out of the top five in the rankings.
World No. 2 Kim Clijsters will be the first seed in Poland, with Elena Dementieva taking Henin-Hardenne’s place as the No. 2 seed.
Update: Patty Schnyder has entered the main draw and will be the No. 2 seed.
