Mary Pierce out of the Internazionali d’Italia tennis tournament in Rome

World No. 5 Mary Pierce has withdrawn from next week’s Internazionali d’Italia tennis tournament in Rome, Italy, citing continued foot problems. The event, also known as the Italian Open, is boasting a field of talented clay court players, including seven members of the current top ten.

According to Reuters, Pierce is still suffering from a foot injury that has forced her off the court since February’s Open Gaz De France in Paris.

Hopefully Pierce’s agents will have some sort of official statement on her injury soon as the Internazionali d’Italia was scheduled to be her last chance at a warm-up tournament before Roland Garros.
