Petrova and Henin-Hardenne to repeat Berlin Open Final

No. 2 seed Nadia Petrova will face No. 3 seed Justine Henin-Hardenne in the final of the Qatar Telecom German Open in Berlin, Germany tomorrow. Petrova advanced to the final with an easy 6-1, 6-0 win over China’s Li Na and Henin-Hardenne blitzed past world number one Amelie Mauresmo 6-1, 6-2. Mauresmo completed her quarterfinal match against Martina Hingis earlier in the day by winning the third set for a final score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Sunday’s final round is a rematch of the 2005 German Open final between Petrova and Henin-Hardenne. Last season Henin-Hardenne won the trophy after defeating Petrova in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

Justine Henin-Hardenne has won four out of her last five tournaments on clay and her only loss in two years on this surface happened during April’s Family Circle Cup.

Petrova has only beaten Henin-Hardenne once in their previous nine meetings.
