Russia’s Dinara Safina continued her excellent run at the Italian Open by knocking out her fellow countrywoman and fifth seed Elena Dementieva in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

Safina, the younger sister of ATP tennis star Marat Safin, has often been accused of having the same fragile psyche and inconsistency that plagues her brother, but none of that has been on display this week in Rome, Italy. Before her easy win over Dementieva, Safina stunned world number two Kim Clijsters in their third round match.

Safina will play Svetlana Kuznetsova in the semifinals tomorrow.
