2004 French Open champion Anastasia Myskina is reportedly considering retirement according to this article from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Myskina has been in a slump for the past two years and has not regained the form that won her the Roland Garros title and brought her to a career high of No. 2 in the world.
“I give one more chance to myself this year to do well, and I have a goal,” said Myskina, who was focused on her mother’s battle with cancer last year.
“I know it’s (my goal) a really tough one, but it’s to be in Madrid (at the season-ending championships) by the end of the year. So if I can reach that one, that’s going to be perfect.”

She certainly has set herself a tough goal to reach! In order to qualify for the season-ending Sony Ericsson Championships in Madrid, Myskina must be ranked in the top eight Race to the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Championships singles standings. Myskina is currently at No. 13 with the season almost half-way over.
