Justine Henin-Hardenne set up a semifinal clash against her fellow Belgian Kim Clijsters after handily defeating Germany’s Anna-Lena Groenefeld in straight sets 7-5, 6-2 today at Roland Garros.
Groenefeld, who is currently ranked at No. 14 in the world, played aggressively, but she was still no match for the 2005 defending champion. She pushed Henin-Hardenne to play her best tennis and managed to break the Belgian’s serve three times, but her forty unforced errors kept her from reaching her first Grand Slam semifinal.
Justine Henin-Hardenne’s win today secures her berth in her fourth French Open semifinal. She will face world number two Kim Clijsters on Thursday.
