Venus Williams was knocked out of the Championships at Wimbledon today by Serbia and Montenegro’s Jelena Jankovic. Jankovic, who was seeded No. 26, stunned the 2005 defending champion in three close sets 7-6(8), 4-6, 6-4.
Court No. 2 at Wimbledon lived up to its nickname, Graveyard of Champions, today as American tennis fans were shocked to see three-time Wimbledon winner Venus Williams sent home in the third round.
Williams’ early exit leaves just Shenay Perry as the only player from the United States left in the ladies main draw.
Twenty-one year old Jankovic will face ninth seed Anastasia Myskina in the fourth round.
