Amelie Mauresmo gains spot in quarterfinal at Wimbledon

World No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo may have been the last of the ladies to reach the quarterfinal round of Wimbledon today, but she certainly will not be the least of the favorites to win the title on Saturday.
Mauresmo, who has reached the semifinal round at Wimbledon three times in her career, advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Ana Ivanovic in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
Contrary to the score, the young Serb did put up a fight against the top seed, and Ivanovic even managed to break Mauresmo’s serve once during the match.
Amelie Mauresmo will face Russia’s Anastasia Myskina in the quarterfinals. Mauresmo leads 7-1 in their career meetings.
