Elena Dementieva advances past Shenay Perry at Wimbledon

Elena Dementieva became the first woman to reach the quarterfinals of this year’s Championships at Wimbledon in England. The Russian seventh seed cruised past American Shenay Perry in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.
Perry, who was the United States’ last hope at Wimbledon, was no match for Dementieva, the two-time Grand Slam finalist.
Elena Dementieva played a much cleaner match in the fourth round, compared to the wins she scored in her first three matches. She committed 16 unforced errors and only five double faults.
Dementieva will awaits the winner of the Maria Sharapova/Flavia Pennetta match in the quarterfinals.
