Wimbledon Day Eight Wrap: Top Four Seeds Reach Semifinals

The top four seeds, Amelie Mauresmo, Kim Clijsters, Justine Henin-Hardenne, and Maria Sharapova reached the semifinals of the 2006 Championships at Wimbledon today.
Mauresmo advanced with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 win over Anastasia Myskina, Kim Clijsters struggled against China’s Na Li, but she advanced 6-4, 7-5, Justine Henin-Hardenne needed only two sets to get past qualifier Severine Bremond 6-4, 6-4, and Maria Sharapova knocked out her fellow Russian countrywoman Elena Dementieva 6-1, 6-4.
The four ladies will be taking a well-earned day off tomorrow before the semifinals take place on Thursday.
