Sporting Life is reporting that current world No. 1 and last week’s Wimbledon champion Amelie Mauresmo has pulled out of the upcoming Fed Cup playoffs with a groin injury.
“Amelie Mauresmo felt the pain in her groin increase on Sunday and underwent medical examinations on Tuesday at Nice Hospital,” said a press statement.
“The examinations revealed she was suffering from a right groin strain.
“Amelie Mauresmo must now rest for three weeks.”

I checked the Fed Cup website and Mauresmo is indeed off France’s roster, although they have not yet given an official explanation.
Mauresmo’s withdrawal leaves world No. 28 Nathalie Dechy headlining France’s playoff against the Czech Republic in hopes of staying in the World Group. Team captain Georges Goven has not yet announced Mauresmo’s replacement on the squad.
