Justine Henin-Hardenne withdraws from Fed Cup semifinal

Wimbledon finalist Justine Henin-Hardenne has withdrawn from this week’s Fed Cup semifinal against the United States.
Host nation Belgium will be taking on the United States this weekend in hopes of gaining a spot in the Fed Cup final round in September. I must admit that I was hardly surprised that Henin-Hardenne pulled out of the semifinal, especially as she seemed so tired after reaching the finals of Roland Garros, Eastbourne, and Wimbledon.
“She will not play because she is not 100 percent fit,” a team spokeswoman on Wednesday.

Henin-Hardenne’s withdrawal gives the United States a fighting chance, especially as current world No. 2 Kim Clijsters has not been playing her best tennis over the past few weeks.
Justine will be replaced by Leslie Butkiewicz, who is currently ranked at No. 509 in the world.
