Serena Williams continues impressive run at Cincinnati

Serena Williams’ comeback continued tonight at the Western & Southern Financial Group Women’s Open in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Williams, who played her first tennis match in six months on Tuesday at this Tier III tournament, easily withstood the challenges of her fellow American Bethanie Mattek. Mattek reached the semifinals last season, but she was no match this year for Serena, who knocked her out in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.

Serena is set to face veteran Amy Frazier in the quarterfinals, and at this point, she should have an easy road straight to the final round on Sunday.
