Vera Zvonareva has a shot at knocking out Kim Clijsters in Stanford

I may sound crazy, but I think Vera Zvonareva has a real shot at booting Kim Clijsters out of the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford tomorrow.

Zvonareva set up a clash with Clijsters today after knocking out Nathalie Dechy in straight sets 7-6(5), 6-0 to reach the quarterfinals of the Tier II tennis tournament. Clijsters barely escaped with the strings on her racquet last night, thanks to her many errors against Jelena Jankovic, and right now Jankovic is playing nowhere near the level of Zvonareva.

I am not sure what Zvonareva is doing differently, but one thing is certain; the former No. 9 in the world has regained her confidence and already has two title this season to her credit. She has not dropped a set in seven matches, including her win over Serena Williams in Cincinnati last week.

If Clijsters is not able to keep from racking up her errors and double faults- her main problem against Jankovic last night - we may see the defending champion stumble out in the quarterfinals.
