The Swiss Miss is not too happy about missing her beauty sleep because of poorly scheduled drug tests. I guess Martina Hingis had one early morning wake-up call too many, and now her weekend training preparations at the Acura Classic were upset because of the bad timing of her required drug testing. (Hingis begs dope testers not to disrupt her day)
Samantha Stosur is blogging for the WTA Tour this week from the Acura Classic. Any golfers out there had better watch out if they want to hit the golf links at La Costa this week! (Samantha Stosur’s Player Blog)
Just what I always wanted for Christmas! A chance to smell like Maria Sharapova! (Maria makes scents)
Confession time: I did not watch Lindsay Davenport win the gold medal in 1996, but I’ll never forget watching Kerri Strug land her second vault after spraining her ankle. This article is mainly about other sports, but it does have a nice mention of Davenport. Read the story anyway -it is an inspiring tale of what American female athletes did ten years ago at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. (U.S. Women at 1996 Games Became Athletic Role Models)
And speaking of Lindsay Davenport, Joel Drucker wants her to do more to advance tennis in the United States. Maybe I’m the only one, but I think Lindsay’s been an excellent example and spokesperson for American tennis. She just prefers to do her talking on the tennis courts instead of waltzing down the fashion runway. (It’ll be a shame if class act pulls disappearing act)
