Aspiring cook Nadia Petrova served herself right out of the Acura Classic last night with five double faults and a 58% first serve percentage. Her fellow countrywoman Anna Chakvetadze knocked her out in three sets 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-2.

A judge ruled yesterday against Maria Sharapova’s lawsuit against Byzantium Productions Inc., which produced the Anna’s Army and Russian Women’s Tennis documentaries. Alicia Molik wants Tennis Australia to award her the wildcard entry into the US Open instead of making her contest a wildcard play-off against the other Australian players. Out of fairness to Nicole Pratt and Casey Dellacqua, I think Molik needs to contest the event and not get preferential treatment just because she used to be a top player. After all, Pratt and Dellacqua are both ranked higher than Molik right now. (Alicia wants wildcard)
