US Open Tennis Schedule for Monday, August 28

The first day of action at the US Open is just one day away and the tournament website has released the order of play for Monday. Lindsay Davenport was not able to get a later start after retiring from Pilot Pen this afternoon and she is scheduled to play Monday afternoon, along with Justine Henin-Hardenne.

I think all the seeds you mentioned should make it through except possibly Schnyder… Smashnova is a tough player, and coming of a final apprearance at Forest Hills… I really hope Alicia Molik wins, it’s a shame the tour lost her last year and I think it would be good for all to see her back at the top of her games ASAP!

If we see any big upsets tomorrow, I’m guessing that it will be either Schnyder or Schiavone. I really like Oprandi’s game and think she should have a fair shot at upseting her fellow countrywoman.
As for Schnyder, she has not been playing her best tennis lately and Brant has a good point about Smashnova reaching the final at Forest Hills.

You shouldn’t add Lindsay Davenport’s name to the upset list but let hope she walks on court for her first round match at all.
