The US Open
Hey Everyone,

I’m opening up the comments for live chat on Lindsay Davenport and Justine Henin-Hardenne’s match. Once again I’ll be missing a big match as my flight leaves from LaGuardia at 7:00, just as the first ball is being struck. Hopefully the rain will stop in time for both players to take to the court, as I’ve been looking forward to this match since the main draw was released two weeks ago. I cannot wait to get back so I can watch the taped version of the match, no matter who wins.

Just a few rules:

No profanity – your comment will be deleted.
No personal attacks against each other – so what if you are the biggest Lindsay Davenport fan on earth? Be nice to Justine’s fans too!
Most of all – have fun!

To get the comments started, how about tackling this question:

Which player would Jelena Jankovic have the best shot at beating and why?

Update: Due to Tuesday’s rain delay, the live chat has been postponed until Wednesday. Be sure to come back and participate!

JJ vs. Lindsay would be a fun one. Lindsay doesn’t have the movement of Justine and Jelena’s movement is just amazing so I’d love to see her defense against Laser Lindsay’s Lightning Groundstrokes. Go Lindsay (though I suspect, much to my sadness, that Justine will win this one)!

Interestingly, I read somewhere that Lindsay retired last week in New Haven perhaps because she wanted to “give Justine a taste of her own medicine” for what I refer to as the “Debacle Down Under.” I doubt it, though, after seeing Lindsay’s tearful post-match press conference.

Momofan, I agree with you – Lindsay was extremely disappointed by her injury in New Haven and I don’t believe that she would go so far as to retire out of spite against Justine.

Lindsay regards Justine with the utmost respect for her game, as evident by her press conference the other day at NYC, and I think the “Debacle Down Under” was probably one of the furthest things away from her mind that Saturday at the Pilot Pen.
