Svetlana Kuznetsova scored her first win over Lindsay Davenport in two years today at the Wismilak International in Bali, Indonesia. Kuznetsova, the top seed at this Tier III event, needed two tiebreaks to reach her third career final in Bali by defeating Davenport 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5).
Although she is out of the singles draw, Lindsay Davenport is not packing her suitcases just yet as she reached the doubles final with her good friend Corina Morariu.
Marion Bartoli, France’s number four player, avenged her three set US Open defeat by Patty Schnyder by knocking out the second seed in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
Kuznetsova and Bartoli have only met once before in the past at the 2005 Australian Open where Svetlana cruised past Marion 6-2, 6-0. This next match should prove a bit tougher for Kuznetsova, but I still think that she will continue her perfect record at Bali by winning her third Wismilak International singles trophy.
