Sania Mirza not only did her homework after her straight sets loss to Martina Hingis last week at the Sunfeast Open, but she quickly became the star pupil today at the Hansol Korea Open Tennis Championships in Seoul.
Mirza had to fight to win just one game in her last meeting with Hingis, but today the Indian star was able to reverse the tide and secure a monumental 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 win, and handed Hingis only her second bagel set of the year.
Martina Hingis even had some encouraging words to say about her opponent:
“She played very well today, much better than last week. I gave her too many chances,” Hingis said. “Her forehand is really amazing.”

Hingis is in sixth place on the Race to the Sony Ericsson Championships standings, but she’s not going to make it if she gets knocked out of Tier IV tournaments in the second round.
Sania Mirza will play Virginia Ruano-Pascual in the quarterfinals.
