Aces
Kudos to the WTA Tour for getting Martina Hingis to blog from Zurich! I was kind of worried that they might have picked Patty Schnyder, who lost to Daniela Hantuchova yesterday. (Martina Hingis’ Zurich Blog)
Christmas is coming, so go ahead and bid on eBay for a Select Comfort Sleep Number bed signed by Venus Williams. All proceeds will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities. (Do You Want to Sleep Like a Star?)
The US Open Shop is offering $1.00 shipping for any purchases made in the United States. USTA Members get an additional 10% off. (US Open Shop)
Justine Henin-Hardenne is back on court and doing drills. She still has not officially decided about her participation in Madrid. (Justine’s Finally Training Back On Court)
Faults
On-Court coaching is being used at the Zurich Open, but I would have thought that the tournament would have made sure that all the players knew about it. (Top WTA players cool toward on-court coaching)
Yesterday was a rough day for Anastasia Myskina, Nicole Vaidisova, and Patty Schnyder at the Zurich Open. Qualifier Timea Bacsinszky ousted Anastasia Myskina 6-3, 6-3, Tatiana Golovin blasted past No. 7 Nicole Vaidisova 6-2, 6-0, and Daniela Hantuchova knocked out the Swiss No. 1 and sixth seed Patty Schnyder in straight sets 6-2, 7-5.
On Court
ZURICH: Samantha Stosur vs. Amelie Mauresmo, Ai Sugiyama vs. Daniela Hantuchova, Nathalie Dechy vs. Martina Hingis, Maria Kirilenko vs. Tatiana Golovin
