Aces and Faults: WTA and ATP to Feature Four Mandatory Joint Events

Aces

The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour will be joining forces with the ATP Tour to create four mandatory events by the year 2009. Key Biscayne and Indian Wells may be included in the plan, with the possibility of a clay court tournament before Roland Garros and another event later in the season in Asia. Korea Republic - Y J Cho and H T Lee
Russia – Nadia Petrova and Dmitry Tursunov
Spain – Anabel Medina Garrigues and Tommy Robredo
USA – Venus Williams and Taylor Dent
and the winner of the Asian Hopman Cup

Venus and Serena Williams will be playing an exhibition match in Denver on November 30th to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities. (Williams sisters Broomfield bound)

Faults

Tatiana Golovin had to retire from the Zurich Open yesterday during her match against Maria Kirilenko with a sprained right ankle.

Amelie Mauresmo made it through her second round match against Samantha Stosur, but her right shoulder is still giving her a lot of trouble. She admitted that she is worried about the injury and is not playing her best tennis this week in Zurich. (Mauresmo next for Hantuchova)
