Kim Clijsters blasted her way past Svetlana Kuznetsova in just forty-five minutes to win her second match at the Sony Ericsson Championships 6-1, 6-1.
Kuznetsova was not able to get her racquet on hardly anything Clijsters sent her way, and by the time the tennis match ended, she had only managed to win four points on Clijsters’ serve. Svetlana’s game was off, especially her serve, but even if Kuznetsova had been playing better, I doubt if the outcome would have been much different.
Tonight was Kim’s night and she played a near perfect match. This was the best performance I have seen from her in months and I have to admit, my dream Championships final would be to see another Battle of the Belgians on Sunday. Clijsters will play Elena Dementieva tomorrow in her last round robin match.
Maria Sharapova is the only player that has dominated from the start in the red group and has all but officially qualified for the semifinals. The second spot will probably come down to either Svetlana Kuznetsova or Kim Clijsters, as Elena Dementieva has not even been able to win a set at this year’s event.
