The media firestorm must have been too great for world number one Justine Henin-Hardenne to wait until Friday to discuss her withdrawal from the Australian Open because her official website (www.henin-hardenne.be) has just published the following statement.
Hello Everyone,I need to address to you very important news, unfortunately it’s not good news. I have to withdraw from the Australian tournaments for personal family reasons. A new calender schedule will be made once I have decided, and I will return to you.
I want to thank you in advance for respecting my choices, and my private life.
Justine
I’m glad to see that she took the time to deal with this situation now instead of waiting another day. Unfortunately, it does not answer the question on everyone’s mind. Why?

Justine has been known to take her family and friends ahead of Tennis, so if it has to do anything with her family, I’m sure she’s not too worried about winning tournaments…hopefully it’s not her husband or brothers who are in trouble…we’ll have to wait for the statement tomorrow…she could just post it on her Web site and get it over with…but Shocking news nevertheless.

Reuters is reporting, “A news conference has been pencilled in for Friday but the time and venue also remain unclear.†Belgium media reports that she is splitting from her husband but her husband has declined comment.
