Who’s Up

Ana Ivanovic (14/16) – A top ten debut is gleaming on the horizon for the Serbian teenager.

Francesca Schiavone (22/25) – Italy’s No. 1 lost in the second round at the Toray Pan Pacific to Maria Sharapova, but she grabbed enough points to push her closer to the top twenty again.

Jie Zheng (30/33) – At 5′ 4 1/2” , Jie Zheng is one of the shortest players inside of the top-thirty, but her height is not stopping her from climbing up the rankings.

Severine Bremond (34*/39) – Age is no problem for the Frenchwoman because at twenty-seven years of age, she’s playing her career best tennis.

Nicole Pratt (45/65) – The Aussie veteran is back inside the top fifty for the first time since 2004.

Roberta Vinci (68/119) – A quarterfinal finish at Tokyo was just what Roberta Vinci needed to boost her back inside the top one hundred.

Who’s Down

Anastasia Myskina (26/23) – Bad news: she’s getting closer to exiting the top thirty. Good news: She’ll be back at the Qatar Total Open in Doha later this month.

Venus Williams (51/51) – Even though she dropped just one spot, it still makes a difference as this is the first time in almost ten years that Venus Williams is out of the top fifty.

*Asterisk means that player set a new career-high this week.
