Open Forum Friday: The Swiss Miss Keeps on Missing

Another Friday has rolled around and with it another edition of Open Forum Friday. This week’s OFF is a Q&A, but with a twist. I do the asking and you do the answering.
Martina Hingis’ comeback trail looks as if she has reached a plateau and I can only wonder how long she will be content with quarterfinal exits.
She quit tennis the first time because she seemed to be stuck in a rut against Venus, Serena, and Lindsay, and now her pride and confidence is taking a beating with a string of losses against Daniela Hantuchova, Dinara Safina, and Jelena Jankovic.
So, today’s topic is obviously Martina Hingis. Feedback is highly appreciated and I’m curious to hear your thoughts on what is plaguing Martina’s game, her confidence, and how long you think she’ll put up with the state of her second career.
Or is this a temporary slump and you think that we could see Martina with another Grand Slam title before she finally hangs up her racquet for good?
Lurkers, this is a great time to come out and state your opinion!

I don’t think she’s worring about something . As far as I know she made the final in Gold Coast, the 1/4 in Melbourne, she won in Tokyo… I just saw her plaing the double with Kirilenko…She was good, and I don’t think she has a confidence problem right now…

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with her confidence. She’s lost to some pretty solid players who are threats to anybody in the top ten. Martina is playing as well as she can. The problem is that her game, even at 100%, can’t match up to most of the players in the top 20. The field at a grand slam would have to be pretty depleted of top 10 players in order for Martina to win again. I’ll give her two more years before she starts her farewell tour.
