Who’s Up

Svetlana Kuznetsova (4/5) – Svetlana reached the semifinals of the J&S Cup last week, boosting her to No. 4 on the rankings. Best of all, she is only 121 points behind Amelie Mauresmo for No. 3.

Jelena Jankovic (6*/7) – Serbia’s No.1 has continued to produce some of her best tennis – top five by the end of Roland Garros looks like a big possibility.

Daniela Hantuchova (13/14) – Daniela Hantuchova did not play last week, but she still returned to the top 13.

Shahar Peer (15/16) – Peer is back to her career high – and just one spot away from becoming the highest ranked Israeli woman ever.

Tatiana Golovin (17/18) -Tatiana posted a new career high today and just in time for Roland Garros!

Alona Bondarenko (29/40) – Alona Bondarenko is back inside of the top 30 after reaching the final in Warsaw on Sunday.

Yung-Jan Chan (52*/57) – Chinese Taipei’s Yung-Jan Chan has reached a new career high of No. 52.

Victoria Azarenka (55*/68) – Seventeen year-old Victoria Azarenka is Belarus’ No. 1 tennis player and she has made her debut inside of the top 55.

Edina Gallovits (92*/101) – Romania’s Edina Gallovits is back inside of the top 100 after winning a Challenger event in Charlottesville last week.

Greta Arn (106/176) – Greta Arn played through the qualifying rounds of the Estoril Open for the Tier IV title and seventy ranking points.

Who’s Down

Kim Clijsters (5/4) – Clijsters dropped a spot, but she will soon be dropping off the rankings completely as soon as her retirement is official.

Jie Zheng (41/33) – China’s No. 3 fell out of the top 40 after failing to defend her title at the Estoril Open.

Elena Likhovsteva (63/54) – The Russian veteran has had a rough 2007 and continues to fall down the rankings.

*New Career-High

    Hantuchova was actually #12 the week after she won Indian Wells. Just wanted to clarify on that one detail.
