Tennis Channel Will Offer Live Streams of the 2007 French Open

Please go here for information about live streaming of the 2008 French Open at Roland Garros.

Work and school profitability among tennis fans will be down over the next two weeks, not only because it is a Grand Slam, but Tennis Channel is planning to debut live streaming of up to four matches at a time each day during the French Open.

Tennis ChannelThe Tennis Channel, which optioned the rights to show coverage of Roland Garros alongside of NBC and ESPN2, has teamed up with MLB Advanced Media, LP (MLBAM), the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball, in a multi-year agreement to stream live matches and supporting content to Tennis Channel’s Web site, www.TennisChannel.com.

The online coverage will complement Tennis Channel’s comprehensive broadcast of the event which begins on May 27, 2007.

Powered by MLBAM, www.TennisChannel.com will stream French Open matches live, allowing Web viewers to choose from up to four simultaneous matches. In addition to live matches, Tennis Channel will provide other on-demand video content, including daily highlights, archived matches and original content.

The technical details have not yet been announced, but Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Macintosh OS X users should be able to use the live streaming if it works anything like MLB.tv.

I am deeply disappointed in the reduced coverage by ESPN of the 2007 French Open. Not every market has access to the Tennis Channel and those of us who don’t rely on ESPN to cover tennis. Not everyone is ga-ga over NBA and NFl–there are other sports. Please reconsider your decision next year and provide comprehensive coverage of the tennis grand slams. ty

I have been watching each of the Grand Slams since 1988. This year I am disappointed that there is such limited coverage of the 2007 French Open. This is a premier sporting event that deserves the honor and exposure that it has earned in the past. Please reconsider your programming interest on behalf of allowing for more coverage next year.

    Sincerely,
    John P. Carvana

I was watching the match between Djocavic and the french player Patience, and you changed channels at the fifth set, and interrupted the match at the most exciting part of the match, what a bummer!!!!!!!!! I know you went to NBC, but I would have wanted to watch the other match than watch Sharapova. signed upset.!!!!!!!

Add me to the list of TV-watching tennis fans who are not happy that the Tennis Channel has taken over a bulk of the 2007 French Open prior ESPN coverage. And, if the USTA is trying to promote tennis and get more young people interested, coverage a major tournament on an obscure channel is not the way.

Loyal fans will watch just about as much Grand Slam tennis as is made available but I don’t think most of us are willing to pay for premium programming just to have Tennis Channel for those times…

hoping the programming decision makers see it that way going forward.

I would like to know why Serena’s match was not
shown in the Tampa,Fl. area. Why wasn’t it shown on the Tennis channel, which I had installed to watch the French Open. All other matches
was shown over and over again, but no Serena??

I am disappointed that the coverage is not on ESPN or one of the local channels or on the internet… it is 6.00 am and here I am excited to watch the match between Serena and Justine to no avail… what a bummer! I am so disappointed.

I am also sad that tennis coverage on mainstream channels is lessening further.
1st it was on NBC, then ESPN, then ESPN2, thenESPN 2 delayed at night for Poker or spelling bees which are not sports at all. Now, if loyal fans want to see it, we have to pay a premium.
How will the USTA ever get it back into the general public’s eye with some special premium channel - send these comments to ESPN
