I'd have to give the edge to Venus, but as the draw has just revealed, the only way they could play each other would be in the final.

Sharapova is not a big fan of clay and barely bothered to get in any match-time except for Istanbul, where she has struggled against players who she should be cruising past 2-2. Her experience last year in Paris was almost a nightmare - Mashona Washington wasted three matches points against her in the first round.

Venus is more comfortable on the surface and even though clay neutralizes some of her power, she still moves much better than Maria.

I'm not picking Venus to win Roland Garros, but I do think that she'll be a force to reckon with at Wimbledon.

Aaress, who do think would win a Venus vs Maria showdown on clay? i think my choice is pretty obvious! i'm sort of hoping Venus goes out quite early in the French so she can be spurred on to do well at Wimbledon like in '05.

Nick, I too thought that the seedings would have been announced already, but it looks like Roland Garros is waiting to do that tomorrow as well.

With Hingis out, we can pretty much guess at who will be the top seeds, but no one is going to be happy about the chance of running into Venus early in the tournament.

I'd love to see a Venus vs. Maria match on clay.

Historical Stats: Nadal and Henin Do The Triple Dance
If Justine Henin wins her third straight French Open in two weeks, she'll join Monica Seles (1990, 1991, 1992) as the only other person in the Open Era to win three straight French Open titles.

If Rafael Nadal wins, he'll join Björn Borg as the only other player to win three straight French Open. Borg won it four in a row in the 80s.

So both Nadal and Henin will be in good company if they can hoist up the trophies in two weeks.

Shouldn't the seeding have already come by on Wednesday? I thought seeds come out on Wednesday before the Draw comes out, maybe the French does it differently.

I'm exciting already...

Based on the ranking, Serena and Justine should probably meet in the Round of 16 or Quarter, and then Kuznetsova in Semi, or it could be the other way around with Serena playing against Kuznetsova.

The other side would be Maria, Amelie, and Jankovic, and Vaidasova.

We have Venus, Nadia, Elena, Ana, Anna, Patty, Shahar, Daniela and Dinara (will seed 10th with Hingis out) on the floating front so they could meet any of the top 10 in the Round of 16 or even earlier.

This should be an exciting French Open with so many floaters
