(4) Amelie Mauresmo vs. Mara Santangelo
Here is where the pressure will start mounting for the defending champion, and if she’s not careful, she’ll become more vulnerable with each passing round. Mara Santangelo hits with a lot of gusto and even though this is not her best surface, she has enough game to pull an upset.

I doubt it will happen, but who could have guessed Lucie Safarova would have dumped Amelie out of the last two Grand Slams?
My Call: Amelie fights for a three set win.

(2) Maria Sharapova vs. (26) Ai Sugiyama
Sugiyama’s best years are behind her – and she knows it – which could make her a dangerous foe. She is not going to get many more chances to penetrate the second week of action at a Grand Slam, especially with her age starting to catch up with her. The almost thirty-two year old veteran won’t be able to outclass Sharapova in the power department, but she does know a thing or two about being aggressive. If Sharapova comes out slow, I could see Sugiyama being able to force this one into three sets.
My Call: Maria makes it to the second week in two sets.

(12) Elena Dementieva vs. Tamira Paszek
Elena Dementieva had a look at Tamira Paszek’s game in the first round of ladies doubles, but considering the fact that Paszek and Sybille Bammer only won one game during the match, it was more of a quick glance. I’m sure Paszek is more than aware of Dementieva’s biggest weakness, so it won’t be hard to guess what Paszek’s game plan will be. If she can protect her own serve, something she struggled with in the first two rounds, and be aggressive in her service returns, she’ll pull an upset and keep her best Grand Slam record alive.
My Call: Tamira Paszek knocks out Elena Dementieva in two sets.

Daniela Says

About why she enjoys dramatic three-set wins:
“I do enjoy it when it gets tight. The physical part comes to play a role in the match. Again today I proved that indeed I was a bit stronger. Yeah, I was enjoying the battle, having to fight for every point, and I’m really pleased to be in the fourth round.”

On her next match against Serena:
“I think I need to step up my game to beat her, but I’m looking forward to the match. I think I’ve got a good chance, and yeah, let’s see what happens.”

About whether Serena or Justine is the best player in the women’s game:
“It’s a very close call. I would say at the moment Justine is the best player.”

Come on Aaresse! You definitly know why Amelie lost those two match! In Melbourne she had been playing like ****!!! It’s obviously not the same girl at all! And in RG it wasn’t hard to guess she would lose aginast Safarova!!!

With a 6-1, 6-2 drubbing of Santangelo, Mauresmo is showing that she’s over the post-appendectomy blues and is ready to defend her her 2006 Wimby title with gusto. Things are shaping up nicely at the All England Club. Mauresmo, Sharapova, Serena, Henin and Jankovic are poised for fourth round big babe tennis. Now if the rain stops and Venus can wrestle her way past Morigami things will get even more interesting. Ivanovic, Petrova, Vaidisova, Kutznetsova and Dementieva should make it to the fourth also (Granville and Kraijcek have been surprising).

Outlook for the quarterfinals: big babe dream match tennis.
