Two upsets topped the headlines on day eight at Wimbledon as the third and fourth seeds tumbled out of the ladies draw.

Third seed Jelena Jankovic ran out of steam against France’s Marion Bartoli for a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 defeat and defending champion Amelie Mauresmo was knocked out also in three sets 7-6(6), 4-6, 6-1 by Nicole Vaidisova.
