Venus Williams Continues Stunning Run For Berth in 2007 Wimbledon Final

Three-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams is through to the 2007 ladies final after defeating sixth seed Ana Ivanovic 6-2, 6-4.
The brilliance that Venus had on display during the past two rounds continued to dazzle the fans - and frustrate her opponent today. Ana Ivanovic did not even manage to get on the scoreboard until 4-love in the first set.
Ana did step up the level of her game in the second set, but even though she fought off three match points on her serve at 3-5, Venus closed it out on her fourth match point after only eighty-five minutes of play.
Venus awaits the winner of today’s second semifinal between world number one Justine Henin and Marion Bartoli.
Be sure to check back at On the Baseline later today for a preview of the 2007 Wimbledon Ladies’ Final.

Still absorbing that incredible upset by Bartoli over Henin. But Venus Williams was taking care of business too, maintaining her regained winning style of play to defeat Ana Ivanovic without much trouble in straight sets. Bartoli and Williams have just made Wimbledon history. Ranked 20 and 31 respectively, they are the lowest ranked players to ever make it to the Wimbledon final. Nice work ladies. Congratulations and good luck to both of you in the final.
