Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Rankings: July 23, 2007

Who’s Up

Anna Chakvetadze (7/8) - Anna Chakvetadze’s third title of the 2007 season boosted her back to her career high on the rankings.

Venus Williams (16/17) - Venus Williams has been off the tour since winning Wimbledon and playing Fed Cup, but she still moved up a couple of points today.

Alona Bondarenko (21*/22) - The Tour’s top Ukrainian is edging closer to making a debut in the top 20.

Lucie Safarova (23*/25) - Lucie Safarova still has some work to do if she wants to consistently beat top players, but she is well on her way to reaching the top 20.

Sania Mirza (35/38) - Sania’s run to the semifinals at Cincinnati was enough to boost her back inside of the top 35.

Agnes Szavay (37*/53) - The only Hungarian in the top 100 jumped up the rankings after winning her first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour title on Sunday in Palermo.

Who’s Down

Serena Williams (8/7) - An injured thumb kept her from trying to defend her quarterfinal finish at Cincinnati last week, so she lost her spot to Anna Chakvetadze by one point.

*New career-high
