The main draw has been announced for next week’s Tier I Acura Classic in San Diego, California.
Defending US Open champion Maria Sharapova will be leading the singles field, followed by world number three Jelena Jankovic.
Although the draw is subject to change before the official start of the tournament on Monday, it currently appears that Sharapova and 2007 Wimbledon champion Venus Williams could possibly face each other for the third time this season in the semifinals.
Venus won their last meeting handily in the fourth round of Wimbledon 6-1, 6-3 on the way to her sixth Grand Slam title.
