World No. 1 Justine Henin Leads 2007 Rogers Cup Main Draw

World number one Justine Henin is set to return to action for the first time since Wimbledon this upcoming week at the 2007 Rogers Cup in Toronto.
The Rogers Cup event alternates yearly between Montreal and Toronto, and is a Tier I tournament.
This year’s field has been plagued with withdrawals over the past few days, including pull-outs from Maria Sharapova, Venus Williams, Martina Hingis, and Nicole Vaidisova. In Sharapova’s case, she made sure that the tournament knew in advance that she was doubtful for the tournament, even going to the extent of asking the tournament directors to keep her name off the promotional materials.
“As I previously indicated to the Rogers Cup, I entered the event on the basis that my participation depended on my health and performance during the course of the summer,” said Sharapova on her official website.
“This is the reason that I asked the tournament not to include me in their advertising, which to their credit they did not do. Unfortunately at this stage of the summer and after many matches over the course of the past 2 weeks, my body is in need of rest.”
Following Justine Henin in the draw is No. 3 Jelena Jankovic, who lost earlier today to Ana Ivanovic in the Los Angeles semifinals.
