© Sara Quinnett - Lindsay DavenportLindsay Davenport’s first match in almost a year will have to wait at least another day because of the bad weather in New Haven.

The former world number one was scheduled to play doubles this evening with Lisa Raymond, but the match against Cara Black and Liezel Huber has been rescheduled for tomorrow, with precedence tonight being given to the singles matches.

“I had to go Lindsay and the doubles match and say, ‘Your match is not essential,”‘ said tournament director Ann Worcester . “We have to get the first-round matches played.”

Davenport and Raymond accepted a wild card into the Pilot Pen tennis tournament and will be facing a tough challenge because Black and Huber are currently the top doubles team in the world.
