Serena Williams Cruises into 2007 US Open Quarterfinals

Serena Williams has reached the round of eight at the US Open for the sixth time in her career with a 6-3, 6-4 win over tenth seed Marion Bartoli on Sunday.

Serena did not bring her best tennis to the court at Arthur Ashe Stadium today, but her performance was good enough to cruise past the Wimbledon finalist in straight sets.

She had a slow start, even losing her serve in the opening set. Fortunately, she quickly recovered and won the match on her first match point after only seventy-six minutes of play.

Her serve continues to be her biggest weapon, and if world number one Justine Henin wins her fourth round match tonight, fans are in for a thrilling quarterfinal on Tuesday.

Yeah… Serena can obviously play better. During the match, I felt like she didn’t want to outplay her opponent who is actually said to be real friend with the Williams
