Venus Williams Advances to US Open Quarterfinals

Venus Williams’ pursuit of back-to-back Grand Slam titles continued today with a solid 6-4, 6-2 win over fifth seed Ana Ivanovic.

A much better contest was expected, but Ivanovic melted underneath the onslaught of Venus’s blistering serves and forehands up the line.

She will await the winner of the upcoming match between Jelena Jankovic and Sybille Bammer.
