World No. 1 Justine Henin captured her seventh Grand Slam title with an overwhelming 6-1, 6-3 victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova tonight in the 2007 US Open women’s final.
For the third time in her career, Henin has won a major title without dropping a set.
She was pushed in her wins over Venus and Serena Williams in the quarterfinals and semifinals, but tonight against Kuznetsova, she dominated from the start.
She captured the early break in Kuznetsova’s first service game to take the lead in the opening set. She continued to dominate against Svetlana until serving for the match at 5-4 in the second set.
After misfiring three double-faults in the game, Henin charged the net on her first championship point and with a beautiful lob over the head of Kuznetsova, won her seventh title of the 2007 season.

I think she has definitely made her case for being best in the world currently.
A question. She is 5′5″ Has there been a #1 player that is shorter than her?

Yeah Will… The last great final we had was the Wim 05…even if the 06 edition wasn’t that bad!
