Kuznetsova, Chakvetadze Win 2007 Fed Cup Trophy for Russia

The Russian Fed Cup squad has again proved that they are the best in the world by capturing their third Fed Cup by BNP Paribas trophy in just four years.
Facing the 2006 defending champions from Italy, the Russian duo of Svetlana Kuznetsova and Anna Chakvetadze captured the title today by taking an insurmountable 3-0 lead.
Chakvetadze took the first tie rubber on Saturday with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win over Francesca Schiavone, followed by Svetlana Kuznetsova’s 6-1, 6-2 trouncing of Mara Santangelo.
Another Kuznetsova victory, this time in the reverse singles against Schiavone, captured the trophy on Sunday. Kuznetsova overcame two match points and a 1-4 deficit in the third set to capture the 4-6, 7-6(7), 7-5 win.
