Justine Henin Starts Sony Ericsson Championships With Straight Sets Win

World number one Justine Henin scored her twenty-first successive win on Tuesday by defeating Anna Chakvetadze 6-1, 7-6(4) in the first round robin match of the Sony Ericsson Championships.

Henin started off her title defense with a straight sets victory, but she struggled throughout the match with her serve. She averaged a first serve percentage of only 47% and hit five double-faults.

Chakvetadze started sluggishly, however she stormed back in the second set to keep the pressure on Henin. She broke Henin’s serve twice before succumbing in the tiebreak.

This was Henin and Chakvetadze’s third career meeting; in both of the two previous matches, Justine surrendered only five games.
