One of China’s top Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles players will be looking for a new coach as the 2008 tennis season commences.
Shuai Peng, who is currently ranked at No. 45, is no longer working with former ATP Tour player Michael Chang.
Chang, who has repeatedly offered his services to the Chinese Tennis Association, has ended his relationship with China’s No. 2 singles player because of the demands on his schedule.
“They wanted me to travel with her (Peng) to all the events and I just don’t have the time to do that,” said Chang according to the Associated Press.
Although Chang cannot commit to the rigors of a full-time traveling coach, he has not ruled out the possibility of working with Peng again in the future.
“Obviously we would always keep our door open if she ever needs anything,” added Chang.
Na Li is China’s highest ranked singles player, followed by Peng and Zi Yan.
