Lindsay Davenport handily won the first title of the 2008 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour tennis season on Saturday by defeating Aravane Rezai in the final of the ASB Classic.
Davenport quickly beat the Frenchwoman in only fifty-one minutes to capture her fifty-fourth career singles title in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
She won 83 percent of the points on her first serve and did not face a single break point.
Davenport’s win today broke her tie with Monica Seles for career singles titles, making her eighth on the all-time list.
