In a rematch of the 2007 US Open championship match, world No. 1 Justine Henin will face world No. 2 Svetlana Kuznetsova on Friday for the 2008 Medibank International title.

Their last meeting at Flushing Meadows was short and entirely one-sided; Henin defeated Kuznetsova in straight sets 6-1, 6-3.

Henin’s road to the final at Sydney began with a free ride into the quarterfinals after Lucie Safarova pulled out with a muscle sprain. Henin blitzed past Kaia Kanepi 6-2, 6-0 in her first match of the year, followed by a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory against her opponent in the 2007 Roland Garros final, Ana Ivanovic.

Svetlana Kuznetsova has not dropped a set this year in Sydney, scoring solid wins against Shahar Peer, Francesca Schiavone, and most recently Nicole Vaidisova, who she beat 7-5, 7-6(4) for a spot in the final round.

The Medibank International final will be aired live in the United States on Tennis Channel.
